My monitor's USB ports won't work ? Help please?

Okay so I tried connecting my iPod to my computer because I needed to sync music on to my iPod before I leave on a trip & it wouldn't connect onto it. I thought something was wrong with the USB drive so I connected to my wall charger that I have for my iPod when I travel and it worked fine. Then I tried closing this page and my mouse wasn't working so I tried resetting the mouse and it still didnt work. The light on the mouse & the wireless connector were flashing normally but they still wouldn't work. I think something is wrong with my USB ports on my monitor. Can anyone help me with this ?
